PSYCHOLOGIST & Founder

Dr. Katelyn Ward

“ I was drawn to psychology by a curiosity about what shapes us — our emotions, our relationships, the patterns we find ourselves repeating, and a genuine belief in our capacity to change. Over time, this work has become deeply meaningful to me, particularly in supporting people as they come to understand themselves more fully and compassionately.”

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

Dr. Ward holds a PhD in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto, with earlier training at McGill University. She completed her clinical residency with the Nova Scotia Health Authority and has worked across university mental health, hospital, community, and private practice settings. Her work is grounded in evidence-based practice and guided by care, curiosity, and deep respect for each client's lived experience.

All sessions are held virtually, a format that research consistently shows is just as effective as in-person therapy, and one many clients find easier to open up in.

Therapy Tailored to You

I value helping individuals explore their inner experiences in ways that reduce distress, build insight, and support lasting, meaningful change. I'm continually inspired by how different approaches offer powerful, complementary pathways toward healing — ISTDP works to uncover and resolve deeper barriers to growth, EFT supports individuals in accessing and transforming core emotional experiences, and CBT helps people identify and reshape unhelpful thought patterns. Together, these approaches help build practical skills, strengthen emotional awareness, and develop a more compassionate understanding of oneself.

AN INCLUSIVE, ANTI-OPPRESSIVE APPROACH

I identify as a white, queer, cisgender woman and a settler. I recognize that power is inherently present within the therapeutic relationship, and I strive to create a space where we can openly acknowledge and thoughtfully explore dynamics of power and privilege together.

My practice is grounded in humility, transparency, and ongoing self-reflection. I work from a place of deep respect for each client's lived experience, with attention to the intersecting identities that shape both their strengths and challenges. I also acknowledge the profound impact of systemic oppression on personal development and well-being. My clinical work is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally safe — because I believe that when safe, supportive environments are created, meaningful healing becomes possible.

I have a particular interest in working with queer and gender-diverse individuals. As a member of the queer community myself, I bring both personal insight and professional dedication to this work, and aim to offer a space where clients feel seen and supported in their full identities.

Outside of the office, I like to wander art galleries (I also studied art history!), hike with my rescue dog Nala, and find a good cup of coffee.
